This is the time of year, isn't it. Every. Single. Year. I say the same thing when it comes to the whole New Year's resolution. Gotta get healthier, lose weight. Get more organized. Change the world, yada yada yada. This year is no different, I suppose. Except I have less weight to lose this year. Fifty pounds less. That's right, I said it. So that's something I did accomplish this year. The organization thing, well…let's say it's a work in progress. Constant. So of course it's the time of year that makes me want to empty out my cabinets and cupboards and clean and and purge. That is definitely on my list of things to do. But this year instead of a whole list of resolutions I am really going to sum it all up with my word for the year.
It means different things to everyone. Christopher uses it on a daily basis when it comes to school. He tells me when he comes from school, "I stayed focused." I need to stay focused, too.
Focused on my kids, focused on my health and my family's, focused on what needs to get done and what I want to get done on a daily basis. Focused on life. I need to stop being so distracted and pay more attention. Stop procrastinating. Stop putting things off, putting things on a shelf, putting things on the dining room table to get back to them later. Focus on what my kids are saying, even when it was the same thing they said three seconds ago.
So that's my plan.
Have a happy, healthy New Year!
